Jaewoo Lee is a first year masters student pursuing a graduate degree in trombone performance at Indiana University with Professor Peter Ellefson. Prior to attending the Jacobs School of Music, he studied with Brent Phillips at Baylor University, and previously studied with John Russell during his middle school and high school days at his hometown of Saratoga, CA.

During his time at Baylor, Jaewoo was a member of the wind ensemble, jazz band, trombone choir, and many different chamber ensembles. At Indiana University he has been fortunate enough to perform with the University Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and New Music Ensemble. He attended the Pokorny Seminar in 2016, the Hot Springs Music Festival in 2019 and the Eastern Music Festival in 2021, and he competed in the 2021 STS Excerpts Competition semifinals as well. This summer he will be the trombone fellow at the Eastern Music Festival.

Jaewoo's career goals are to perform meaningful, high level orchestral and chamber music, while also teaching young students trombone and sharing the beauty and depth of music that he loves. He has been teaching trombone and euphonium students for many years, and also tutors music theory students of all ages. His other interests include sports, reading, arranging, and cooking.
